About Northland

The Northland Region is the northernmost part of the country and enjoys a sub-tropical climate

In a nutshell, people who love skiing go to Queenstown, while people who love the water come to Northland.

With its subtropical climate, low-density population and stunning coastline, the 'winterless north' is a favourite destination of tourists and nature lovers eager to explore.

Think surf-pounded beaches, kauri forests, sheltered bays and world-class dive sites.

Apart from Whangarei and tourist areas around the Bay of Islands, most of the coastline remains undeveloped and uninhabited. So there's plenty of scope to build or buy what you want, where you want, whether you're looking for a luxury retreat or a secluded bach.
